Designed from the outset as a diesel powered replacement for the E27N, this can trace its origins back to a 1944 engine project by Ford enhineers at Dagenham. By 1951 the development work was completed and the Ford took the courageous step of producing an entirely new tractor around the engine with radically new styling.
